Celebrating another year

On October 17, 2008, the Community Center will celebrate its 11th anniversary. At this time we would like to remember many who worked so hard to make the Community Center a reality. Foremost we need to remember that the Community Center was the brain child of Everett Hardy, Jr. Without his initiative to gather a group of people to discuss the feasibility of renovating the Marie S. Howard School, a Community Center for the town of Acushnet would never have become a reality. We also need to express our deepest gratitude to Charlie Pelletier for his many hours of work renovating the building, to Herve Fredette for getting plumbers to donate their time to replace the two bathrooms, to Paul Philabaum for his unique fundraising ideas and to Ray Barlow who helped us get our feet off the ground.

We are extremely proud of the programs we are offering to all age groups as well as providing much needed space for organizations to hold meetings. The Community Center is thriving, but we need more volunteers to help us continue to do all of the things we are doing. Set a good example for your children by becoming a volunteer. Call the Center for more information. Again we thank you all for your continued support.
